Etsy's 2026 fee schedule, explained

One-time set-up fee — $29. Charged once when you open a new shop, never again. It isn't part of per-sale math, but it is part of break-even: the calculator shows how many sales at your numbers pay it back.

Listing fee — $0.20 per listing. Charged when you create or renew a listing. Each sale auto-renews the listing, so in practice every sale consumes one $0.20 fee (that's why it's included per-sale by default above). Listings otherwise expire after four months.

Transaction fee — 6.5% of the order total, excluding tax. Applied to item price plus shipping you charge the buyer.

Payment processing — 3% + $0.25 on the order total including tax and shipping (US rates; they vary by country). Note the asymmetry: sales tax is passed through to the state, but the 3% processing fee is still charged on it — a small real cost on taxed orders.

Offsite Ads — 12–15% of the order total, only on sales attributed to Etsy's ads on Google and social platforms. Under $10K of sales in the past 365 days you pay 15% and can opt out; over $10K you pay 12% and it's mandatory.

Currency conversion — 2.5% of sale funds, only if your listing currency differs from your payment-account currency. Match them and this is $0.

Digital downloads: the short version

No shipping, no materials, no per-unit cost. On a $4.99 digital print the total fee stack is about $0.92, netting you ≈ $4.07 — an effective rate around 18%. The fixed $0.45 per sale ($0.20 listing + $0.25 processing) is why cheap listings carry a higher percentage; at $9.99 the effective rate drops to ≈ 14%. Bundles beat singles on fee efficiency.
